Key Words: Plectranthus rugosus, Phytosociology, Environmental variables, Ward’s cluster analysis NMS ordination

The present study aimed to investigate the status of Plectranthus rugosus dominated communities in Kabal swat. Various phytosociological attributes of all the recorded species were obtained. For quantitative analysis of vegetation a 4×4 m2 quadrat was used and a total of ten stands were sampled. Five quadrats were taken randomly per stand. Descriptive information altitude of the sampling site was recorded.

By: Hontonho E. J. Deguenon, Martin P. Aina, Akuemaho V. O. Akowanou, Dominique C. K. Sohounhloue

Key Words: Waste water treatment, Reed beds, Typha, Panicum, Echinochloa

The rejection of untreated waste water in the nature decreases groundwater quality. Waste water treatment plants like activated sludge plant and stabilization pond plant built in Benin show their limits. Due to these problems, reed beds have to be experimented to bring a durable solution to waste water treatment problems in Benin. Compare to activated sludge plant and to stabilization pond plant, reed beds are the cheapest based on the technical and economical point of view. On addition to that, reed beds are easy to build and to maintain. The experiment plant is composed of four basins.

Cancer incidence of digestive system with reference to the assessment of selected polychlorinated biphenyl congeners | IJB_INNSPUB

f:id:ymdashikurr:20190514144426j:plain

By: Mohammad Attaullah, Masarrat J. Yousuf, Islam Dad, Muhammad Amin, Syed Ishtiaq Anjum, Rooh Ullah

Key Words: Cancer, Digestive system, Polychlorinated biphenyls, Gas chromatography

The present study was aimed to ascertain the levels of seven polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in patients with cancers of the digestive system in comparison to normal healthy subjects. Fasting blood samples were collected from the donors with informed consent and the isolated sera of each sample was extracted with organic solvents and analyzed for the residues of PCBs with Gas Chromatograph coupled with Electron Capture Detector (GC-ECD). Mean level of total PCBs (ΣPCBs) was found significantly elevated in the cancer patients (2.555 mg/kg) compared with the healthy subjects (0.361 mg/kg). PCB 52 was detected in high concentrations compared with other PCB congeners with a level of 1.629 mg/kg in the cancer patients and 0.12 mg/kg in the healthy subjects.

By: Henrita S., P. Bulan, N. A. P. Abdullah, M. Jiwan

Key Words: Adan rice, Seed quality, Physical properties, Proximate composition

In the presence study, Adan rice was evaluated for seed quality, some physical and proximate compositions. The seed purity and moisture content and germination was 99.76±0.07%, 10.53±0.50% and 91.33±1.29% respectively. Adan rice seed took minimum 4 days to fully germinate. The physical properties of Adan Rice were evaluated at 12.03 ±0.14% moisture content.

Key Words: Hypothyroidism, T3, T4, TSH, Iodized salt

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland fails to function adequately as a result the level of thyroid hormone is reducing in body. Thyroid hormones rise up cellular activity across the body generally enhancing metabolism. Iodine deficiency resulting from insufficient intake of dietary iodine is the most common cause of hypothyroidism worldwide.

Identification of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) genotypes for salt tolerance during emergence | IJB_INNSPUB

f:id:ymdashikurr:20190509144658j:plain

By: Md. Omar Kayess, Md. Hasanuzzaman, Md. Waliur Rahman, Md. Jalil Uddin, Md. Rafiqul Islam

Key Words: Tomato, Genotypes, Salt tolerance, Emergence

Salinity in soil or water is one of the major stresses that affect crop production around the world. In Bangladesh the coastal areas are increasing day by day due to climate change. Therefore it is very important to investigate the mechanisms of salt tolerance. That is why, this study was undertaken to investigate the effect of salinity on tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) by using ten genetically diverged tomato genotypes during seed germination and seedling growth stage. The study was carried out in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications under invitro condition. In the study, emergence percentage, radicle length, plumule length, Proline content, K+/Na+ of the seedling were assayed on five levels salinity; control (0), 4,8,12 and 16 dS m-1.
